Maritime Museum Expansion: An Inundated Haven

developed for Self

While focusing on layers of occupied and unoccupied space, additional layers were found through the orientation of the building and wind turbines, by using wind patterns. The building creates a reminiscent feeling of an operating port with raised structures over head, and close proximity to the water. Surrounded by water, the building connects the wind and water through the building – providing views and experiences The materiality also suggests a notion of lightness as the structure breaks the five bars and turns to glass. The layers within the project allow for the visitor’s experience to change depending on where they are located within the project.
