Urban Campus
developed for Self
Designed as part of a master plan for the Via Trinitatis along the Tiber River, the project develops from the proposition to provide street-level urban space to the city. This is achieved by lifting the building through a series of massive structural tree systems. The building elevates according to the massive urban gesture of a pedestrian bridge which reconnects the Via Trinitatis. The tree structures provide a structural, mechanical, and circulative means to support the building. The floors move in a public to private function as the building increases in height, beginning with shops and a public park, then moving to art studios and critique spaces all including green spaces. The break in the floor plates are dictated by the structural trees and used to create both a visually and physically connected space to engage learning & design.
